Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Blast back on tour

Following the success of last year, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Blast On Tour is about to embark on its next journey - a staggering 30-week tour of the UK.

Μύ

Blast's aim is simple: to encourage young people to express themselves through creativity.

Μύ

The Blast truck will be stopping off in 30 locations around the UK, beginning its journey at the University of Hertfordshire this April and touring the country until November.

Μύ

The truck houses a raft of cutting-edge, innovative, creative and digital media activities, aimed at inspiring and motivating young people aged 13 to 19.

Μύ

It offers them the opportunity to showcase their work with screenings, performances, and large-scale events both regionally and nationally through live webcasts and broadcasts.

Μύ

It will visit each of the cities and towns for three to five days, tying in with some regional festivals including the Norwich & Norfolk Festival, the Belfast Maritime Festival and the London Thames Festival.

Μύ

As well as being a much bigger tour, this unique Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ learning initiative has even more to offer those who visit in 2007.

Μύ

As well as gaining experience in the arts, dance, music, film, writing or digital creativity they can also participate in new taster sessions and workshops in science, applied design and creative entrepreneurship.

Μύ

With approximately 45,000 young people actively participating in last year's 15-week tour, this year's aim is to repeat and expand upon its success as a bigger and better Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Blast tour.

Μύ

Jane Quinn, Education Executive, said: "Blast, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's creativity service for young people is a unique proposition: backed up by the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ values of trust it provides a special space where young people feel safe to grow their creativity, get expert advice from the best industry professionals, and showcase their creative work.

Μύ

"Combining innovation with a sound educational proposition it is building a compelling proposition for the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, creative learning and young people which is attracting increasing numbers to workshops, online and masterclasses year on year."

Μύ

The Blast On Tour website will also be offering new and exciting ways for young people to interact with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and to showcase their work to one another.

Μύ

They will be able to upload videos they have produced in online galleries as well as download their favourite content.

Μύ

There will also be Mobsters, an animation series created for mobiles, which encourages creativity on their mobiles.

Μύ

This year also sees even more opportunities arising with a number of work placements and traineeships for young people around the UK.

Μύ

There will be an opportunity for around 100 Blast Reporters to work alongside journalists and to learn to report on radio, online and TV.

Μύ

Another 100 young people will have the chance to undertake a work experience placement at the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ.

Μύ

The experience will help individuals to develop a deeper confidence in their own creativity by working with industry mentors and professionals.
