New senior roles announced in Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ People


Stephen Kelly, Director of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ People, has today announced two senior appointments within Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ People.

Μύ

Lesley Swarbrick, currently Head of HR and Development, Television, will be Head of Human Resources and Development for the newly created Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Vision, with nearly 5,000 staff.

She will lead the HR team across Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Vision to develop its capability in a changing world.

Μύ

Ian Critchley, currently Head of Human Resources and Development, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Drama, Entertainment and Children's, will be Head of Production Talent, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Vision.

Μύ

Ian will join Lesley's team and will work closely with Peter Salmon, Chief Creative Officer, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Vision.

He will ensure a strategic approach to talent management within the group, and will offer insight and ideas on talent issues.

Lesley Swarbrick joined the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ in 1990 as a personnel trainee and has held senior HR positions across the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ including, Science, Factual, Production, Sport and Factual and Learning.

She was appointed Head of HR and Development for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Television in 2005.

Before embarking on an HR career, Lesley worked as a freelance journalist and also spent periods in arts, voluntary sector administration and in recruitment.

Ian Critchley joined the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ from Granada Television (where he was Head of Programme Services) in 1994 as a Personnel Manager, in Music and Arts.

He was subsequently Head of Personnel and Programme Services for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Entertainment before taking up his present role as Head of Human Resources and Development for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Drama, Entertainment and Children's in 2001.

He is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Edinburgh International Television Festival.

The creation of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Vision under Jana Bennett's leadership was announced on 19 July 2006 as part of Director-General Mark Thompson's plans to deliver the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's creative vision as outlined in Creative Future.

The group will comprise more than 5,000 people and brings together three of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's existing divisions - Television; Drama, Entertainment and Children's; and Factual and Learning.

The creation of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Vision will help the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ deliver 360 degree content creation (creating and commissioning content for all the different ways of delivering it to the audience, including via the Internet) and prepare to meet the audiences' requirements in an increasingly on-demand world.

The commissioning system is designed to bring the best ideas to the screen, including the best of independent production, backed by the new Window of Creative Competition.
