Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Bristol's Features and Documentaries Studio has taken a bold step into the future by hiring a top comedy and entertainment producer.

Μύ

Mob Dar is currently the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Creative Head of New Comedy and has been developing new talent whilst overseeing shows including Little Britain and The Mark Steel Lectures.

Μύ

His new role will see him bring his experience of comedy and entertainment into a department best-known for its documentary output such as Seaside Rescue and Soul Deep.

Μύ

Mob will take over leadership of Factual Entertainment production with a brief to develop the next generation of Factual Entertainment programmes for all Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ channels.

Μύ

Studio head Tom Archer said: "This is a statement of intent. Bristol has always been a place where different genres cross-fertilise and by bringing a talent like Mob to work here we are saying to the channel controllers and commissioners, 'Expect the unexpected!'.

Μύ

"We already make a huge variety of programmes from the light, like Bargain Hunt, to the serious, like Anatomy of a Crime or Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ FOUR's Timeshift.

Μύ

"We're already working with entertainment stars such as Lenny Henry, Paul Merton and Sanjeev Bhaskar, but Mob can take us into new ways of working with talent, and bringing entertainment values to factual programmes - which is crucial for the future."

Μύ

Mob Dar has worked as an in-house Producer at the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ with a period spent in commissioning as well as enjoying spells at indies such as Tiger Aspect, Talkback and Princess Productions.

Μύ

He has worked on programmes as diverse as Big Brother and Johnny Vaughan Tonight before winning a British Comedy Award and Montreux Golden Rose for Channel 4's My New Best Friend.

Μύ

Mob Dar said: "To be honest, I only wanted to visit the Springwatch set and meet Kate Humble, but Bristol somehow convinced me to go and work there instead!

Μύ

"Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Bristol is known for its excellence in programme-making and to be part of that is an incredibly exciting prospect."
