Â鶹ԼÅÄ announces new Current Affairs appointments

Lucy HetheringtonÌýhas been appointed to the role of Executive Producer, Current Affairs at the Â鶹ԼÅÄ starting in April 2007.

Lucy is presently Executive Producer inÌýthe Â鶹ԼÅÄ's FactualÌýTV Commissioning department, overseeing independent ideas and commissions across FactualÌýTV,ÌýwithÌýparticular emphasisÌýon Current Affairs.

Ìý

Karen O'Connor, Creative Director of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ's TV Current Affairs department, says: "I am very pleased that Lucy is joining us. I have worked with her for many years and her commitment to current affairs TV delivered in the most engaging way is fantastic."

Ìý

Lucy Hetherington says: "I'm delighted to be joining the team at such an exciting time for Current Affairs; the big challenges ahead should present some great opportunities."

Ìý

Some of the recent programmes exec-produced by Lucy include the Â鶹ԼÅÄ ONE drama-documentary 9/11: The Twin Towers (transmitting on 7 September at 9.00pm); Execution of A Teenage Girl and The Insurgency for Â鶹ԼÅÄ TWO.

Ìý

She has also been responsible for the critically-acclaimed drama Pinochet in Suburbia; the Gypsy Wars series for Â鶹ԼÅÄ THREE and Tory! Tory! Tory! for Â鶹ԼÅÄ FOUR.

In addition to her work in the Current Affairs genre, Lucy has exec-produced programmes such as Seaside Parish, Private Life of a Masterpiece, and Star Portraits with Rolf Harris. Ìý

Prior to joining TV Commissioning, Lucy had many years' experience working for the Â鶹ԼÅÄ's Current Affairs department, most recently as Executive Producer for Â鶹ԼÅÄ FOUR and as Series Producer for Correspondent.

Ìý

Dominic Crossley-Holland is also joining Â鶹ԼÅÄ Current Affairs as an Executive Producer starting at the end of September.

Ìý

Dominic was, until recently,ÌýITV's Controller of Current Affairs, Arts and Religion, responsible for commissioning all ITV1's output in these genres.

Ìý

He brings with him extensive experience of making popular and accessible news and current affairs programmes.Ìý

Speaking about the appointment, Karen O'Connor says: "It's great that someone with Dominic's experience and ability has agreed to join the team for the coming months, before Lucy takes on the role in April. We're all looking forward to working with him."

Ìý

Dominic's work at ITV included commissioning and overseeing Tonight with Trevor McDonald, as well as political and religious programming, news specials and Melvyn Bragg's South Bank Show.

Ìý

He was also executive producer of the Real Crime strand, Rageh Omar's programmes for ITV and several stand-alone documentaries.Ìý

Ìý

Prior to that,ÌýDominic worked for ITN for 16 years in a number of rolesÌýincludingÌýEditor of News at Ten,Ìýrunning ITV's News Channel, and producing numerous news and current affairs documentaries.

Ìý

He has also produced Election coverage in Britain and the United States.
