The new series of Extras, the award-winning comedy from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant was today launched to the press by Roly Keating, Controller of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TWO.

The second series of Extras, which transmits on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TWO from Thursday 14 September at 9.00pm, follows Andy Millman (Ricky Gervais) as filming on his sitcom begins and he moves from background artist to TV face.

Despite his burgeoning success, Andy is still surrounded by the usual cast of idiots: his hapless best friend Maggie (Ashley Jensen), his incompetent agent Darren Lamb (Stephen Merchant) and 'Barry off EastEnders' (Shaun Williamson).

Ricky Gervais said: "This year I worked with such international megastars as Orlando Bloom, David Bowie, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Sir Ian McKellen, Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Lindsay but for me the performance of the series comes from a little, fat scouser called Keith Chegwin."
