Small but perfectly formed, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
Scotland has launched Wee Gems, a new talent initiative to encourage and develop directing, producing and writing skills within children's drama.
Μύ
Open to both new and experienced production talent within Scotland, the scheme will see the commission of two 15-minute children's dramas.
Μύ
A key provider of children's programming and renowned worldwide, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Scotland's recent successes include Raven, Balamory and Tales
from the Edge.
Μύ
Sara Harkins, Head of Drama Development for Children's and Teens, explains: "We're looking for fantastic scripts that are original, engaging, funny and exciting."
Μύ
The tone and focus of each application should be inspired by, and appropriate for, the 4.35pm drama slot of CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
ONE. Each film should be 15 minutes in duration and entrants must work to agreed production budgets.
Μύ
Every submission should have the potential to be developed into a series and, as such, film-makers are advised to view the Wee Gems scheme as an opportunity to write a script for a pilot rather than a one-off film.
Μύ
The pilots must be produced in Scotland with a commitment to employing Scottish-based crews.
Μύ
Applications must be received by Friday 22 September 2006 and the two winning entries will be announced in November.
