Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ GCSE Bitesize gets record figures
The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's revision website GCSE Bitesize has reached record figures with more than 2,500,000 teenagers using the site
to prepare for this summer's GCSE exams.
Μύ
The GCSE Bitesize site - bbc.co.uk/gcsebitesize - was visited by 2.6 million unique users in May 2006, a year-on-year increase of half a million, and recorded more than a 100% increase in page impressions year-on-year - with 120 million page impressions in May 2006, compared with 57 million in May 2005.
Μύ
Liz Cleaver, Controller Learning and Interactive, said: "GCSE Bitesize is going from strength to strength - last year 70% of all GCSE students used the service. It
is the most innovative multi-platform revision tool there is.
Μύ
"Bitesize fits teenagers'
lives because it's available in so many different formats - online, on your
mobile phone or by pressing your red button.
Μύ
"New technologies offered this
year included downloadable MP3s for English and Science, a multi-player
revision game, RSS feeds, and a mind-mapping tool called Revision
Map.
Μύ
"Bitesize provides different ways of revising and helps to break up the monotony of what is an onerous and stressful period, but also provides an alternative angle to subject areas which may have been unclear before."
Μύ
New content offered by GCSE Bitesize this year included new modules for the Diploma in Digital Applications (DiDA) and History, an improved English module and interactive video games.
Μύ
Following the success of GCSE Bitesize, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is relaunching its Key Stage 3 revision service, with content updated and rewritten, online games and an interactive mock exam in science.
