Writer and broadcaster Sandi
Toksvig has signed up to chair the next series of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
Radio 4's News Quiz, starting in September.

A News Quiz regular herself, Sandi takes over the chair from Simon
Hoggart, who leaves the show after an impressive ten years in the hot seat.

Commenting on her new challenge, Sandi Toksvig says: "Following in Simon's footsteps
is daunting. He has been a wonderful chair and a pleasure to work with.

shall do my best to keep the rabble in order and elicit some sense from
them."

Sandi becomes the fourth in an illustrious line of News Quiz chairmen since the show began in 1977.

Its first chairman was co-creator Barry Norman followed
by Barry Took. Barry went on to co-chair with Simon Hoggart in
the Eighties until Simon took on the chairman mantel full time in
1996.

The new series of the News Quiz returns to Radio 4 on Friday 8 September 2006.
