The top three designs in the Great British Design Quest were revealed on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TWO's The Culture Show last night.
Μύ
The Design Museum and The Culture Show have asked the public to vote for their favourite British
design since 1900 in the Great British Design Quest.
Μύ
And the top three designs are:
Μύ
London Underground map, 1931
Design: Harry Beck;
Μύ
Supermarine Spitfire aircraft, 1934-1935
Design: Reginald Mitchell;
Μύ
Concorde, 1969-1976
Design: British Aerospace Corporation with Aerospatiale.
Μύ
The top three designs fought off stiff competition from a longlist of 25 design
icons drawn up by the Design Museum and The Culture Show.
Μύ
They included the Routemaster bus, the K2 telephone kiosk, the World Wide
Web and the Mini.
Μύ
The advocates of the top three designs - James Naughtie, Dan Snow and Jonathan
Glancey - argued the case for their favourite to win on The Culture Show last night on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TWO.
Μύ
Public votes will determine the
winning design, to be unveiled on the programme on Thursday 16 March.
Μύ
Viewers can vote for their favourite design from the top three at bbc.co.uk/designquest.
