A Service of Thanksgiving for the life and work of Ronnie Barker OBE is being held at Westminster Abbey at noon today (Friday 3 March 2006).

Around 2,000 family, friends, writers, actors and fans are attending the service to celebrate one of television's greatest comedy actors.

The service will be conducted by Rev Robert Wright, Sub-Dean of Westminster.

Life long friend and comedy partner Ronnie Corbett OBE and comedian Peter Kay will pay tribute.

Readings with be given by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Chairman Michael Grade CBE and actors Richard Briers CBE and Jo Tewson.

Richard Briers will read from William Shakespeare's The Life of King Henry the Fifth; Michael Grade from It's Hello from Him, written in 1988 by Ronnie himself; and Jo Tewson from 1 Corinthians 13.

Prayers will be led by Rev Deiniol Morgan, Minor Canon of Westminster.

The service is sung by the Westminster Abbey Special Service Choir, conducted by James O'Donnell.
