Snow Cake set to open Berlin Festival - Opal Dream and Glastonbury also in official selection

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Films co-productions received three Oscar nominations today.

Judi Dench was nominated as Best Actress for her outstanding performance in Stephen Frears' Mrs Henderson Presents, matching her Bafta nomination, with Sandy Powell cited for her achievement in Costume Design and Woody Allen's Match Point script nominated as Best Original Screenplay.

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Films developed the Mrs Henderson Presents screenplay and co-financed the production, as well as being the cornerstone financier for Match Point.

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Films co-productions also recently received a total of six Bafta nominations.

Stephen Frears' box office success Mrs Henderson Presents - the true life story of eccentric Windmill Theatre founder Laura Henderson, starring Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins, and produced by Norma Heyman - led with four nominations for Best Actress/Judi Dench, Best Screenplay/Martin Sherman, Anthony Asquith Award for Music/George Fenton and Costume Design/Sandy Powell.

Michael Winterbottom's critically acclaimed A Cock & Bull Story was listed among the candidates for the prestigious Alexander Korda Award, and first time producer David Belton (Shooting Dogs) was included in the list for Carol Foreman Award.

Three Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Films co-productions have been given highly prestigious slots in the upcoming Berlin Film Festival (9-19 February).

Marc Evans' Snow Cake - starring Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver and Carrie-Anne Moss, with a first screenplay by promising UK writer Angela Pell - will open the Festival on 9 February, screening in competition.

Snow Cake is a film about friendship, snow, acceptance, obsessive cleaning and about finding the warmest of friendships in the coldest of places.

Peter Cattaneo's Opal Dream (previously known as Pobby and Dingan) - the Australia-set tale of the bizarre and inexplicable disappearance of Kellyanne's imaginary friends, Pobby and Dingan - has been selected to open the Kinderfilmfest on 10 February.
