Jon East, CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's new Head of Drama, has commissioned a raft of stunning new series which are set to mark a new, more ambitious era of children's drama on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Television.

Μύ

Roman Mysteries (five x 60 minutes) will be an exciting, glossy period drama series set against the colourful backdrop of the Roman empire.

Μύ

The series follows the fortunes of a group of four children as they investigate a series of puzzling mysteries that expose them to everything from the jeopardy of the Vesuvius eruption to the intrigue of the Roman senate.

Μύ

Based on the popular novels of the same name by Caroline Lawrence and written by Olivia Hetreed (Girl With A Pearl Earring), it will be made by Suitable Viewing with Martyn Auty as producer and Jon East as CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ executive producer for transmission in 2007/8.

Μύ

Kudos are making I Spy (ten x 30 minutes) for CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, which could best be described as a younger version of their hit Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE series Spooks, with a dash of 'high camp' thrown in for good measure.

Μύ

The main protagonists are two girls and a boy who will be using all the high-tech devices and counter-espionage tactics to track down a series of mad geniuses in this fantasy adventure series. It will be executive produced by Stephen Garrett for early 2007.

Μύ

The pioneering yet controversial school Summerhill is the inspiration for a tough, heart-warming and emotional drama of the same name.

Μύ

Written by Alison Hume (Beaten, New Tricks, Pure) and telling a story of personal transformation set against the school's fight to retain its revolutionary values and co-operative style of democratic rule, this two x 60 drama for 2007/08 will be produced by Greg Brenman (Billy Elliot) of Tiger Aspect and directed by Jon East.

Μύ

A new take on one of the most popular literary figures will be what to expect of Young Dracula when a single dad Count Dracula moves to modern-day Britain from Transylvania with his two children, Vlad and Ingrid.

Μύ

To his father's horror, Vlad - the show's eponymous hero - wants not to bite, but rather to fit in with his new-found British friends, but it's not easy when you are one of the undead.

Μύ

This comedy drama series is a 14 x 30 minutes commission for CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Drama, and will be executive produced by Josephine Ward for Autumn 2006.

Μύ

The fast and physical world of wheelchair basketball sets the scene for the drama Desperados, which charts the journey of Charlie, who - following a disabling accident - finds new meaning and purpose in his life when he joins a junior wheelchair basketball team, the Desperados.

Μύ

Each of the ten half-hour episodes also focusses on the trials and tribulations of the other team members as they progress through the league.

Μύ

Being made by CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Drama, this groundbreaking comedy drama series will be produced by Ewan Marshall for transmission in Autumn 2006.

Μύ

Jon East, Head of CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Drama, said: "This range of exciting, fresh and innovative new dramas will deliver on our ambition to provide highly engaging stories, set in colourful, interesting worlds, and which explore rich emotional territory for our young audience. It's a great line-up, and there's more to come!"
