Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Director of Television Jana Bennett has appointed E4 head Julian Bellamy as the new Controller of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ THREE.

Μύ

Bellamy, 35, who is also Head of Channel 4's Factual Entertainment commissioning, will join the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ in the New Year.

Μύ

Jana Bennett said today: "I'm delighted Julian will be joining us in Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Television.

Μύ

"He has fantastic experience of building channels and brands in a multi-platform digital environment, a very strong creative background and terrific relations with talent and the production community.

Μύ

"His dual experience as both a commissioning editor of factual entertainment and innovative shows like Big Brother - and of running a mixed genre channel - will bring a new dynamic to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ THREE as it evolves, grows and meets ever-changing audience expectations."

Μύ

Julian Bellamy said: "The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is new territory for me and I admire what Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ THREE has achieved with new talent and comedy.

Μύ

"I'm really looking forward to working with Jana to take Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ THREE to a new level for audiences and exploring new ideas that will ensure the channel continues to innovate, develop and create real excitement."

Μύ

Julian has been Head of Factual Entertainment at Channel 4 since February 2003 and took over E4 at the start of this year working with commissioning, marketing, scheduling and acquisitions.

Μύ

He started his TV career producing and directing documentaries for both Dispatches and ITV's The Big Story strands before becoming Editor of Current Affairs for Channel 4, which included commissioning The Mark Thomas Comedy Product.

Μύ

He was Commissioning Editor for Big Brother from 2001, giving creative direction to BB on all platforms working with a team of Channel 4 editors.

Μύ

Julian was also responsible for commissioning Channel 4 factual programmes from the nations and regions, such as the award-winning strand Football Stories, and for representing independent production companies from outside of London within the broadcaster.

Notes to Editors

Μύ

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ THREE launched in February 2003 and is part of the portfolio of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ television services available in digital homes.

Μύ

Μύ

The channel's average weekly reach amongst 25-34 year olds, in digital homes, in peak time, was 34 per cent, largely due to the dark, comedy thriller Funland and factual series Honey We're Killing the Kids.

Μύ

It has pioneered new comedy including Little Britain, The Mighty Boosh and Nighty Night, dramas such as Casanova and the acclaimed Bodies, and factual series like The House of Tiny Tearaways.

Μύ
