A brand new programme coming to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE next month is giving viewers a great way to raise money for this year's Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need Appeal.

The nation's fundraisers are being asked to auction off their hidden treasures and unwanted goods at bbc.co.uk/greatbigbid.

Whether it's DVDs you've already watched, jeans that don't fit or that Faberge egg that's just cluttering up the mantelpiece, visit the Great Big Bid's site, powered by eBay.co.uk, and list your items for sale.

You can then choose to give from 20 to 100 per cent of the money you make to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need.

Every penny the charity receives goes straight into grant aid, helping children and young people in the UK.

Some fast and furious bidding will lead up to a week of primetime Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE shows that report on the action and the stories behind the items - so people should raid their attics now and list them online to get involved.

During Great Big Bid week, people can bid online for Star Items donated by some very famous faces - including Graham Norton, the England Football team and Darcey Bussell - and Buy What You Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ items, where iconic Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ props will be up for grabs, such as Mrs Overall's tray, Kat Slater's wedding dress and Ronnie Corbett's chair.

After five weeks of adrenalin-fuelled online bidding, The Great Big Bid TV show then kicks off on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE with a glittering red-carpet charity auction gala at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Television Centre on Sunday 13 November.

The glamorous gathering will see the UK's top entrepreneurs and VIPs, and top Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ stars, all bidding for lots - with the proceeds going to the charity.

'Money-can't-buy' lots and experiences, such as one of Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff's Ashes-winning bats, and tennis lessons with Greg Rusedski, will be up for grabs.

Viewers will be also able to win similar items for just one pound by entering the Bid A Quid competition by phone and SMS.

Nightly updates on the buying and selling activity on the Great Big Bid website will feature in the live 30-minute shows broadcast from Monday to Thursday in the run-up to the Children In Need Appeal Night on Friday 18 November.

 The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children In Need 2004 Appeal raised a fantastic Β£34m. This total is the highest raised since the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's charity became an annual television and radio event 25 years ago, and is up by nearly Β£3m from the previous year's (2003) final total of Β£31.4m.

The money raised helps support children and young people throughout the UK who are suffering serious or terminal illness or who are/have experienced sexual abuse, neglect, homelessness, poverty, addiction or domestic violence.

Grants ranging from Β£500 to tens of thousands of pounds have been distributed to more than 1,700 registered charities, voluntary and community groups.
