Early birds can hear a new voice on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Gloucestershire's Breakfast Show from today (5 September) as Mark Cummings takes over as presenter.

Μύ

He moves to the 6.00 to 9.00am slot after ten years at the station.

Μύ

The multi-award winning presenter says: ""I am thrilled to be moving to the Breakfast Show. It's a real privilege to be asked to wake the county up every morning.

Μύ

"The last time I was getting out of bed at 3.00am was when my daughters were young. It won't be long before they're coming home from a night out just as I'm heading off for work!

Μύ

"Over the years I've presented programmes from the top of the old Severn Bridge, piloted a small aircraft over the county, cycled up all of Gloucestershire's major hills, and walked to London in the footsteps of Dick Whittington but I have rarely seen our beautiful county that early in the morning!"

Μύ

Apart from radio, Mark's passions are backpacking, performing magic, playing tennis, learning the guitar and his family.

Μύ

Married with two daughters, the fun and friction of family life is a regular talking point on air!

Μύ

Mark can be heard every weekday from 6.00 to 9.00am on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Gloucestershire on 104.7, 95 and 95.8 FM,1413 AM and online.

Notes to Editors

Μύ

Mark has picked up five prestigious awards in the last five years - the BT News Broadcaster Of The Year (twice), the Frank Gillard award for Best Interactive Radio Show (twice) and the Plain English Campaign's Broadcaster Of The Year for his attempts to ridicule waffle, red tape and gobbledegook.

Μύ

Mark has also presented various series on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Points West uncovering the history behind local landmarks. Most recently he hosted Gloucestershire's entry for the West Country's local hero awards and was thrilled when Sir Frank Whittle came out on top.
