Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Blast has won the 2005 IVCA Clarion television category award for best programme promoting socially responsible attitudes and social inclusion.

Μύ

Blast is an all-encompassing project culminating in a ten-hour series on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TWO showcasing the creative and artistic endeavours of 13 to 19-year-olds.

Μύ

Based on a comprehensive outreach programme and events, together with online presence and telephone support, Blast has captivated young people's passions and developed their creative thinking.

Μύ

Jane Quinn, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Education Executive, says: "Set up in 2002, Blast has set out to change attitudes: the attitudes of adults to young people and the attitudes of teenagers themselves.

Μύ

"By showcasing their creative and artistic talent, the project challenges assumptions about young people, gives a platform to a wider range of creative output, and portrays a positive and lively image of young people from a diversity of backgrounds.

Μύ

"Winning this award is recognition of all the hard work that both the young people and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ staff have put into the project."

Μύ

The International Visual Communication Association (IVCA) exists to promote effective business and public service communications of the highest ethical and professional standards. It is the largest professional body of its kind in Europe.

Μύ

The IVCA Clarion Awards recognise outstanding, creative and effective communications that promote corporate social responsibility, sustainable development, cultural or social aspiration, social inclusion or responsible debate about key issues. All media platforms are able to enter.

Μύ

IVCA chose Blast for the award because: "This truly inspiring project was designed to provide young people with an insight into what the Arts could offer them.

Μύ

"It was a unique combination of well-structured community activity, supported by mainstream communications from the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ."

Μύ

The awards will be presented on 7 September at the Lewis Media Centre, Millbank, London, where leading figures from the communications industry, business, Government and the Arts will attend to celebrate this achievement.
