Richard Deverell has been appointed
Chief Operating Officer for CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ by the incoming Controller, Alison
Sharman, it was announced today (24 May 2005).

Currently Head of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ News Interactive, a central part
of Richard's new role will be to build CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's role in a digital future
as well as developing key partnerships both in and outside of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ.

Alison Sharman said: "Richard has made a huge success
of News Interactive and is regarded as one of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's most respected
innovators. I am thrilled that he is joining CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, where he will play
a central role developing the content and ideas which will put the department
at the forefront of the digital broadcasting world."

Speaking of his appointment, Richard said: "I'm delighted
to be joining CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ at such an exciting time. I believe there is a huge
opportunity for the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ to take a global lead in providing outstanding
content for children in the digital age and I'm very much looking forward
to being part of the team that delivers this".

Richard has been in his current role since 2000 where
he has been responsible for all Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ News' interactive and on-demand
services including Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ News Online.

Previous to that, he was Controller of Strategy and
Marketing with Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ News.

Alison Sharman, currently the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Controller of Daytime,
was appointed Controller of CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ last month and takes up the new role
on 20 June.

CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is the generic term for the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's children's programming
and online services, and incorporates:

CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and CBeebies programming on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TWO
The CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Channel and CBeebies, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's subscription-free, dedicated
children's digital channels, which launched in February 2002.
CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is aimed at six to 12-year-olds, and CBeebies is aimed at pre-school
children
CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ online and interactive services.
