Some of the North West's hottest new musical talent take to the stage in the Millennium Forum on Thursday 12 May.

Μύ

Paul Casey, The Henry Girls, Eilidh Patterson and The Plea are among the acts taking part in a celebration concert supported by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Foyle and local music producer and manager Alan Cummings.

Μύ

The aim of the concert is to showcase the wealth of new musical talent in the North West with a number of record company scouts attending.

Μύ

The concert also aims to provide the acts with a platform from which to further their careers and to encourage more local musicians to get started and create a vibrant local music industry.

Μύ

21-year-old Claire Sproule, another of the acts taking part, was recently signed by jazz label Parlophone/Blue Note who have Norah Jones on their books.

Μύ

Ana Leddy, Managing Editor Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Foyle, said: "Radio Foyle has long championed new musical talent and live music is a daily feature on the station - but I've always felt frustrated that although there's superb talent here, we don't seem to be able to help these musicians to get a real leg up into the music industry by being signed by major labels.

Μύ

"The partnership of growing the talent on the radio and then having it brought to the attention of decision makers in the music industry is establishing a vital link between what goes on on the ground and what could lead to a successful career.

Μύ

"Together with Alan, we've got together to showcase the best of local talent in the North West.

Μύ

"This is a real quality line-up and it promises to be a really exciting night of great music.

Μύ

"We hope that people in the area will come along and support the event and that it will become an annual event."
