Northern Ireland's
favourite furry fundraiser Pudsey Bear has come out of hibernation this
week, a little earlier than usual, to launch his very own Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children
In Need Photo Competition in this the 25th year of the charity.
Special single use Pudsey cameras have been produced, and the
competition theme is Life In My Place.
Pudsey's friend, and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Newsline presenter, Donna Traynor says:
"Pudsey is really excited at the idea of a photo competition and
is particularly pleased that a special single use camera has been produced
with his picture on it!
Μύ
"All we need to do now is encourage as many people
as possible to take part in the competition, which has the theme Life
In My Place.
"What I find particularly appealing about Pudsey's competition
is that it's a low cost, low tech photography-for-all idea. In this
photo competition it doesnΒ’t make any difference how expensive
your camera is or how many mega pixels you've got.
Μύ
"The fact is anyone entering must use one of Pudsey's
special cameras and identical processing facilities which creates a
level playing field.
Μύ
"It really doesn't matter how good you are at photography
either, just have a go and, most importantly, have fun!
"But I think the best thing about this competition is the fact
that a minimum of Β£1 for every Pudsey camera sold, including all
profits, will go to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children In Need Appeal.
Μύ
"So the more people we can encourage to take part
the more money goes to disadvantaged children in our area. What could
be easier?"
Pudsey's special cameras are available from Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Broadcasting House,
Ormeau Avenue, Belfast; Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Foyle in Londonderry; and the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
Shop in Arthur Street, Belfast.
They are also available from Boots, one of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children In Need's principle
sponsors, selling the cameras from their shops across the UK.
Μύ
The company has pledged all profits and a guaranteed
Β£1 minimum for every camera sold will go to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children In
Need Appeal. The cameras cost Β£6.99 including processing.
