Matthew Pinsent spoke
to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ World Service's Olympic Sportsworld after winning
his historic fourth Olympic rowing gold medal.

Asked what he did the night before the big race, Matthew
replied: "Listening to the World Service. If
I can't sleep usually at home I'll have the radio on with some head
phones.

"I brought my radio out here and I knew last night
was going to be difficult trying to get to sleep and so I tried to listen
to your show but then you had Steve [Sir Steve Redgrave] on last night,
at which point I switched off for 20 minutes and made sure I didn't
listen to what he had to say then I probably woke up at midnight and
listened to an hour and a bit then I woke up again at 2.30 [am] and
listened to a bit more and I was listening to it at 5.30 [am] again.
"Yeah the number one World Service fan in Athens at the moment
was me."
Matthew added that Olympic Sportsworld had been an "inspiration"
and said "it would be impossible without you".
