Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Television is to offer viewers a new line-up on Saturday mornings
across Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TWO as part of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's biggest and most exciting
summer of sport in a decade.
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Daytime Controller Alison Sharman says: "This summer, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ viewers
will be cheering on England in Euro 2004 and Wimbledon's tennis stars
before following Britain's athletes at the Athens Olympics - and the
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ will be with them all the way.
"We know there's an appetite for an informative sports news magazine
show on Saturday mornings, so this summer is the ideal time to try something
new on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE, to reflect the nation's excitement in the lead up to
the big sporting events, with a range of predominantly live programming."
The planned changes will come into play on the opening day of Euro
2004 and will run through to the beginning of September.
The summer line-up will include:
News on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE from 6.00 to 10.00am, which means
that the channel will give viewers a consistent news service seven days
a week during the summer;
In the Know, a new live news and sport magazine programme
on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE, hosted by John Inverdale and Louise Minchin.
They will be joined by a range of guests in the studio and link to
outside broadcasts from the big events of the day - through Euro 2004,
Wimbledon, Ascot and in the lead up to the Olympics (there will be live
coverage from Athens on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE Saturday mornings throughout the Games
in August).
In the Know will also be broadcast on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ News 24;
Saturday Brunch, a new live cookery programme hosted
by Anthony Worrall Thompson, with recipes and tasty tips for summer
cuisine.
This will replace Saturday Kitchen currently being shown on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TWO;
The CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Saturday morning schedule, which usually plays out on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
ONE will be moving to its summer camp on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TWO, giving CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ programmes
a consistent home during the summer of sport.
The move should also offer greater clarity and coherence for children
and adults, to help them find what's on offer from the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ throughout
the summer of sport.
