Owen to leave EastEnders
Sid
Owen - who plays Ricky Butcher in Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE's EastEnders - is to leave
the drama.
Louise
Berridge, EastEnders Executive Producer, said: "We will be
very sorry to say goodbye to Sid, who has been
one of the most amiable and popular of our cast members since his
return to the show in 2002.
"Ricky
has been one of our most enduringly successful characters, and although
possibilities for his character are limited at the moment, the door
is being left firmly open for his return in the future.
"But
Sid is a fine actor in his own right, who deserves to be remembered
for more than his Ricky persona, and we wish him every success in
his future career."
Sid
Owen said: "I've enjoyed my time back on the show but now it's
time to see a bit more of the world and spend time on my other projects."
During
his absence from EastEnders from 2000 to 2002, Sid travelled the
world and built up businesses in property and restaurants both in
the UK and abroad.
He
first joined EastEnders in 1988.
All the
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's digital services are now available on ,
the new free-to-view digital terrestrial television service, as well
as on satellite and cable.
