Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
West programmes launch on Digital Satellite
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
West's programmes will be available on the digital satellite platform
for the very first time from Tuesday (29 July 2003).
All
digital satellite viewers in the region will be able to receive
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ West's complete local programme portfolio Β– including Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
Points West, Inside Out (West) and the Politics Show
(West) Β– at the 101 setting on their Electronic Programme
Guide (EPG).
Previously,
satellite viewers had to return to their terrestrial services to
access Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ West programmes.
Now
viewers can stay on satellite and not only receive their local programmes
at the 101 setting, but also use the EPG to watch the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's local
programmes from anywhere across the UK.
This
new development also widens choice - enabling viewers on the cusp
of two or more regional broadcasting areas to select, for the very
first time, which local service they prefer.
Andrew
Wilson, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ West's Head of Regional & Local Programmes, says:
"Technology is constantly evolving and can sometimes be confusing
- but this is a welcome development which gives viewers more control
and makes programmes made for and by local people more even more
widely available.
"For
example, anyone who has moved away from the West but can't bear
to be without their daily fix of Susan Osman and Chris Vacher can
keep up to date with all Bristol's news by selecting Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ West on
their EPG.
"Similarly,
if a regular Points West viewer is going on holiday to Scotland
and wants to check the weather there, they can tune into Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Scotland's
news and weather services at the flick of a button."
Further
information on these changes can be found on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's digital website
