Colin Murray

Presenter, Radio 1 and 5 Live

Colin Murray presents 5 Live Sport on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 5 Live on Friday night and Sunday afternoon.

Belfast-born Murray began his career as a news reporter, cutting his teeth at the News Letter newspaper.

After setting up and co-publishing his own cutting-edge music magazine, Murray unexpectedly found himself co-hosting for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 1's Session in Northern Ireland, after attending a five-minute audition believing it was for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Ulster.

He then deputised for various major shows and landed a six-month stint as host of the flagship evening music programme, The Session, in 1999. He went on to co-present a number of shows on Radio 1 with Edith Bowman, before taking over the evening midweek slot previously held by John Peel in 2006 until 2009.

An avid sports fan, Colin has presented the sporting points-for-punditry panel show Fighting Talk on 5 Live since 2006 and joined 5 Live Sport at the start of the 2009-2010 football season, presenting the Friday night preview show, with regular guests Pat Nevin and Perry Groves, and Sunday afternoons (12-6pm).

His TV presenting career has seen him front Channel 4's 4Music and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three's EastEnders Revealed. He has co-hosted both the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three and Radio 1 Glastonbury coverage, co-presented the Kerrang Awards and ITV2's coverage of The Brit Awards, and currently presents Channel 5's football coverage.

He also debuted as presenter of the BDO world darts championships on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two in the new year of 2010, and is currently working on a documentary for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two commemorating the 25th anniversary of the greatest world snooker final ever between Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor.

Colin was crowned IPR Northern Ireland Entertainment Journalist Of The Year 2002, and has scooped two Gold Sony Radio Broadcast Awards. Firstly, The Feature Award in 2005 for a documentary he made with All Out Productions entitled The Trouble With Drugs, and in 2007 The Music Broadcaster of the Year, where the judges called him: "a broadcaster with a winning blend of charisma and charm".
