Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide has sold hit entertainment show Top Gear to commercial cable channel Kabel Eins in Germany. Part of the ProSieben Sat1 group, the innovative broadcaster offers an impressive mix of both fiction and factual titles and is the ideal platform from which to launch the multi-award-winning motoring series in Germany.
"With Kabel Eins we have found the perfect home for Top Gear in Germany. The series is one of our best-loved and most widely-watched – the Top Gear team's hilarious antics never fail to disappoint and we're sure Germans will soon become as addicted to them as we are," commented Isabelle Helle, Head of German Speaking Territories, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide.
"I am thrilled that Kabel Eins managed to secure the most successful and most extravagant TV car show in the world," added RenΓ© Carl, Head of Program Strategy & Operations/Deputy Managing Director, Kabel Eins, "I am convinced that Top Gear will amaze the German viewers with its extraordinary production value."
Top Gear is the ultimate car show, like no other, enhanced to appeal to men, women and even children. Irreverent, witty and honest, the Top Gear team of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard (The Hamster) Hammond and James (Captain Slow) May take cars to the limit and beyond to find out how good they really are. Full of stunts, challenges and special features, Top Gear is self-deprecating, inclusive and passionate – there are no boring statistics and impenetrable conversations about camshafts and tyre pressures. Instead there is authoritative information and entertainment.
Seen in over 100 countries across the globe, Germany is the latest country to continue its huge international success. Although an exact date is still to be confirmed, the series is likely to launch on Kabel Eins during summer 2010 and will be dubbed into German.
