The Legend Of The Tamworth Two - the pigs that saved their own bacon!

This is the legendary tale of two plucky pigs, Butch and Sundance, who captured the hearts of the nation when they notoriously escaped a Wiltshire slaughterhouse and went on the run back in January 1998.

When two 5-month-old boars flee from the local abattoir, journalist Jenny Best (Emma Pierson) writes about their death-defying escape and in no time at all, a whole media circus erupts to help her and the local Police track them down.

As the pigs continue to evade capture, the evil slaughterhouse boss Wolf (Kevin Whately) arrives on the scene to hunt the pigs down and take them back to the abattoir where they will surely face imminent deathΒ…

Will the gutsy Butch and Sundance continue to avoid capture? Or will they fail to outsmart the cruel, calculating Wolf and end up back in that gruesome abattoir? And most importantly of all, will they eventually make it back to Tamworth and be reunited with their mother as the spirit of the Wild Boar has promisedΒ…?

Starring Kevin Whatley (Inspector Morse), Gerard Hogan (London's Burning), Emma Pierson (Charles II) and Darren Boyd (Smack the Pony), and with the voices of Brian Blessed (Blackadder) and Frances Barber (Manchild), the film uses a mixture of live action with real pigs and computer animation to make the animals appear to 'talk'.

Tim Haines, whose credits include the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's award-winning Walking With Dinosaurs, uses the same special effects as featured in the films Babe, Cats & Dogs and Stuart Little to bring our beloved Butch and Sundance to life.

DVD features will include commentaries with director Metin Huseyin and producers Sally Woodward and Lynn Horsford.

The Legend Of The Tamworth Two will be available to buy on VHS and DVD from all good retailers or online at from Tuesday 14 April, and will be shown on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE on Monday 13 April 2004.
