Old Grey Whistle Test Volume 3

DVD Release: 16th February 2004

In the British Film Institute's chart of the Best 100 Television Shows of all times, Old Grey Whistle Test was the highest placed music show, ahead of Top of the Pops, Ready Steady Go, Later with Jools Holland and The Tube.

'Old Grey Whistle Test Volume 3' is the last chapter in the DVD tribute to the UK's most influential live music show. The DVD is packed with some of the music industry's most important artists making their television debuts.

The performances range from the early days of David Bowie singing 'Oh You Pretty Things' in 1972, through to The Bangles with 'Walk Like An Egyptian' in 1986. Other classic performances include Steppenwolf's 'Born To Be Wild', Al Stewart singing 'Year Of The Cat', BB King's 'When It All Comes Down', The Jam performing 'A Bomb In Wardour Street', King Crimson's 'Frame By Frame' and Jesus & Mary Chain's 'In A Hole'.

Also included are newly filmed interviews with presenter Bob Harris, founding producer Mike Appleton and musicians Roger Daltrey, Hamish Stuart, Roddy Frame, Rick Wakeman, Nick Lowe, Robin Trower, Edwyn Collins, Jools Holland and Bob Geldof talking about how the Whistle Test team put Live Aid together.

Special features include a commentary by original presenters Mark Ellen, David Hepworth and Andy Kershaw, an artists' gallery, a view by year and a view by presenter.
