Popular CBeebies series BALAMORY released on DVD and VHS for the first time

For the first time ever, episodes from the popular CBeebies series Balamory will be released on DVD and VHS by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide on 17 November 2003. Aimed at children aged three to six years old, Mysteries with PC Plum will include three episodes from the television series with a bonus episode available on DVD.

Balamory features a cast of children and adults and follows the adventures of the small island community. Set in picturesque village where pretty, coloured houses nestle around a harbour, the drama of each episode focuses upon the young children of the local nursery and their teacher, Miss Hoolie who are regularly joined by a host of larger-than-life characters.

The series has enchanted young viewers since it launched on CBeebies just over a year ago with its stories based around the day's events and its songs, poems, dances and the 'Story of the Day'.

The first ever Balamory DVD (RRP Β£12.99) and VHS (Β£9.99) features three stories - The Missing Scarecrow, The Sing Along Machine and Litter Bug - based around the adventures of PC Plum, Balamory's warm-hearted community policeman. A bonus episode, The Lost Voice is available on DVD along with a photo gallery.

Julia Posen, Publisher, Children's DVD/Video, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide comments: "Balamory offers its young audience a unique mixture of story-telling and drama as well as a host of wonderful characters. It's a great opportunity for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide to bring this superb and hugely popular programme to DVD and VHS for Christmas 2003."

The release of Mysteries with PC Plum will be supported by bespoke above and below-the-line marketing campaign including press advertising, PR and online activity and which will focus on communicating to mothers with young children. In-store trade marketing campaign is also in development.
