provides emergency DRTV solution for Disasters Emergency Committee
Liberia Crisis Appeal
The
Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC*) is launching an emergency direct
response appeal across national television and radio in aid of the
growing humanitarian crisis in Liberia. Emergency funds are needed
immediately to provide food, shelter and medicine to an estimated
million people who have fled the war-torn areas of the African state.
As
a key member of the DEC's Rapid Response Network, Audiocall is providing
a national automated call-handling network to capture pledges to
the emergency number, 0870 60 60 900. The line will be open 24-hours
a day, indefinitely. Audiocall is also providing the transcription
processing for the duration of the appeal.
The
campaign launches across Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and ITV, Channels 4 & 5 and BskyB
at 18:30hrs hours on Tuesday 12 August. Appeals will also go out
on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ national, local and regional radio and on national and local
commercial radio throughout a two-week period of joint action.
Audiocall
has supported all DEC appeals for over 6 years. Other members of
the Rapid Response Network include agency Ogilvy & Mather, who
produce and distribute all advertising material, as well as UK broadcasters
and newspapers, who devote air time and advertising space to the
appeals.
*The
DEC acts on behalf of 12 major charities to coordinate an immediate
national response to disasters which cause mass-scale human suffering.
The charities it represents include, British Red Cross, Oxfam, Save
the Children and Christian Aid.
