Prince's Legacy
Narrated
by David Attenborough
VHS
Release 23rd June 2003
With
unprecedented access, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Natural History Unit follows a working
year at The Prince of Wales's garden and farm at Highgrove.
Nestling
in the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, Highgrove has been home to
The Prince for 23 years. The garden and the farm are a living testimony
to his commitment to organic principles.
The
land is managed, as far as possible, in harmony with Nature. New
hedges and trees are planted each year, meadows and crops grown
without the use of chemicals and many materials are recycled. Such
an approach helps to sustain a diverse range of wildlife, plants
and invertebrates.
A garden
of stunning beauty has been created. The famous Thyme Walk and Stumpery,
the Walled Kitchen Garden, the Tulip Walk and the new Woodland Garden
seen here in construction - are all results of bold garden design
ideas.
The
Prince has created something special at Highgrove. The beauty and
magic of the land speaks for itself, but in combining traditional
methods with modern thinking, it also offers a glimpse of a new
future for farmers and gardeners.
