Doctor Who: The Horns of Nimon

VHS released 2 June 2003

Starring Tom Baker as the fourth Doctor, Lalla Ward as Romana and David Brierley as the voice of K9, the Horns of Nimon is the last of the Tom Baker stories to be released on video, enabling fans to complete their collections of the fourth incarnation. It is also the first time that the Horns of Nimon has been released on video since it was first transmitted in late 1979.

Watch out for Janet Ellis, who also makes an appearance.
Planet Skonnos: the inhabitants have been promised that their civilisation will be restored to greatness if they provide young sacrifices and crystals. Their "benefactors"? The Nimons, aliens with the heads of bulls. The Nimons also require radioactive hymetusite crystals, which, along with the sacrifices, are obtainable from the nearby planet Aneth.

The Doctor and Romana come across a spaceship from Skonnos while their TARDIS is immobilised for repairs. The spaceship has a gruesome cargo: the latest batch of sacrifices from Aneth.
Romana is captured and taken to Skonnos on board the spaceship, while the Doctor follows in the now semi-repaired TARDIS. Once there, the Skonnons' leader consigns them into the Nimons' labyrinthine power complex.

Meanwhile, the Doctor discovers that the Nimons weave their duplicitous deceptions by sending a lone emissary to each planet, gaining the trust of the populace before draining it of its resources. This is what the Nimons are doing to Skonnos.
Will the Doctor stop them in their tracks? More importantly, can he rescue Romana from the seat of the Nimons' power, where she is still trapped?

With thanks to the Doctor Who: The Television Companion by David J Howe and Stephen James Walker.
