Worldwide goes star hunting in Cannes
Starhunter,
the stylish new sci-fi action adventure series from Canadian production
company, Citadel Studios Inc and UK independent, Talisman, will
be launched to the international TV market at this year's MIP TV
in Cannes (March 24-28th) by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide.
The
agreement, to distribute a North American drama, represents the
first of its kind for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide.
Mike
Phillips, MD, International Television for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide said, "This
is a very ambitious series and the strong production values, UK/Canadian
cast, and a number of top British directors give it all the hallmarks
of a great international hit. We are excited to be working with
Exec Producer Tony De Pasquale and his team to ensure the show gets
the global audience it deserves."
Currently
working on another 22 episodes of Starhunter, Tony De Pasquale,
CEO Citadel Studios, added "The success of the show has accelerated
production on the next series and working with Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide on
its distribution is a huge plus for us."
The
22-part movie-quality series is shot and mastered in high-definition,
including state-of- the-art CGI. It stars UK actors Clive Roberson
(Sunset Beach), Paul Fox (Coronation Street), and Stephen Marcus
(Red Dwarf, Birds of a Feather), along with U.S star Dawn Stern
(The Fugitive) and Canadian Tanya Allen (The News Room).
The
series is set in 2300, when man has spread throughout the solar
system and nearby stars, but his reach has exceeded his grasp; civilisation
is a patchwork of a hundred worlds, most with weak governments and
few enforceable laws. It is a golden age for criminals and our heroes
are tomorrow's private eyes - professional bounty hunters.
The
Canadian/UK co-production is produced by Bora Bulajic and Richard
Jackson, and executive-produced by Tony De Pasquale. Directors include
Michael Cocker (Ballykissangel) Colin Bucksey (In Deep) and David
Wheatley (Dalziel and Pascoe).
The
show is already successfully syndicated by Western International
across the US, and is now in 85% of the market, including all major
stations.
