13.01.03 Red
Dwarf Series 2 available on DVD in February
Almost
exactly fifteen years ago a new comedy sci-fi series was shown on
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TWO. With the improbable name of 'Red Dwarf' it had an even
more unlikely storyline - three million light years into the future
a radiation leak wipes out the crew of a four mile long mining spaceship
- the only survivors are Holly - a computer with an IQ of 6000 and
a deadpan expression, The Cat - a feline humanoid who evolved from
the ships cat, Rimmer - a hologram with delusions of just about
everything and Lister - the last surviving member of the human race.
However the antics of these four and their adventures, as they endeavour
to return to earth, struck a chord with the viewers and the series
quickly became a huge hit.
Written
and created by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, Red Dwarf went on to become
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TWO's longest running, highest rating sitcom, winning a host
of prestigious awards and passing into television history. The Red
Dwarf phenomenon still continues with sales of over 75,000 copies
for Series 1 on DVD (released in November last year) and the Red
Dwarf movie currently in pre-production.
To
celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the show's first transmission
Series 2 will be released on DVD in February. Featuring all the
classic episodes: - Kryten - Better Than Life - Thanks For The Memory
- Stasis Leak - Queeg - Parallel Universe. Starring Craig Charles,
Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules and Norman Lovett (as Holly, the
computer) the many extras include:-
