Two classic Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Christmas tales make the perfect festive stocking-fillers for young children

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide releases two classic Christmas tales, Second Star to the Left and First Snow of Winter on one special double video on 18 November. Perfect as a stocking filler for children, the gift set includes two VHS tapes perfect for delving into time and again over the festive period.

Both stories are wonderful winter animations produced by the award-winning Silver Fox Films, directed by Graham Ralph and feature all-star casts.

Second Star to the Left features voices provided by Barbara Windsor, Hugh Laurie and Mark Williams (Fast Show) and Becky Taylor signs the theme tune for the film.

It's Christmas Eve, and Archie the rabbit is desperate for some excitement. He's tired of sitting in his cage, day in, day out - he wants to change the course of history! When he hears the sound of sleigh bells and a Christmas present comes crashing through the roof of the shed in which he lives, Archie sees this as the perfect opportunity for a great adventure. He and his friends, Duke the hamster and Babs the guinea pig make it their mission to track down the present's intended recipient and deliver it before Christmas Day dawns.

First Snow of Winter, winner of a BAFTA award for Best Animation at the 4th British Academy Children's Awards, stars the voices of the late Dermot Morgan (Father Ted), Miriam Margolyes and Sorcha Cusack.

This charming wintry tale tells the story of Sean, a small duck with a big problem. Having spent his first summer on the beautiful west coast of Ireland Sean and his family are due to fly south to warmer lands as winter approaches. When the journey begins, Sean loses sight of his family and realises to his horror he's been left behind and, what's worse, he has damaged his wing and can no longer fly.

As winter sets in, a forlorn and scared Sean meets up with the loveable, well-meaning Voley, a water vole, and his old friend Puffy the puffin. Together they outwit the fox who is in search of a meal, striving to survive the winter cold. Then with the following spring comes the familiar cry of the returning birds.

Sean's great adventure is packed with pathos and humour as he learns the lessons of survival and, more importantly, the value of friendship. The soundtrack stars the voices of the late Dermot Morgan (Father Ted), Miriam Margolyes and Sorcha Cusack. It features marvellous original music from Musical Sculptures, the team behind "Perfect Day", which celebrates the Irish setting of the story. The First Snow Of Winter was originally written by Michaela Morgan from Graham Ralph's story and is beautifully illustrated by Sue Tong.
