03.09.02 Hear
the Horrible Histories for the first time!
From
October 7th, for the first time, two adaptations of Terry Deary's
best-selling series Horrible Histories will be available to hear
on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Collection audio cassette and compact disc.
Terry
Deary's best-selling history books for children have become modern
classics. Now they have been translated to audio as a series of
brand new mini-dramas, starring Terry himself.
The
stories contain fresh factual material, additional to the Horrible
Histories books. Even more vile stories are revealed by a cast of
actors who act out the antics of a myriad of horrible personalities.
With
the aid of creepy characters, freaky facts and startling storylines
each of the Horrible Histories illuminates a specific era of history.
The first two volumes are The Vile Victorians and The Terrible Tudors,
on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Collection single cassette (Β£5.99) and compact
disc (Β£7.99).
Terry
Deary, author and star of the Horrible Histories audios, said:
"I've learned a lot more horrible facts since the books were
published and it's great to have a chance to bring them to audio
for the first time. A talented bunch of actors had fun playing the
cruel, colourful and quaint people from the past. Lots of that fun
comes across in these new recordings. Loads of laughs with heaps
of horror - if you're not careful you may even learn something too!"
Sarah
Kilgarriff, Commissioning Editor, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Collection, said:
"We are thrilled to be publishing Terry Deary's specially written
audio versions of Terrible Tudors and Vile Victorians. His enormously
popular Horrible Histories may not be the sort of history taught
in schools - but they are all the more vivid for that. I wish I
was a child again."
The
Terrible Tudors and The Vile Victorians will be available from October
7th from all good book shops or the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Shop ().
