05.08.02 Portable
digital radios - now on sale through Radio Times
They
may have sold out in the High Street but this week's Radio Times
has secured stock of the world's first mass-produced portable DAB
radio.
The
initial batch of the Video Logic Pure Evoke-1 disappeared in three
hours when the tuners went on sale in London's Oxford Street last
Wednesday morning.
However,
the RT Shop, on page 116 of the 10 - 16 August edition of Radio
Times, has sets priced at Β£99.95 plus a postage and insurance
charge of Β£2.49.
The
radio uses the latest digital technology to transmit stations free
of interference in regions of the country that are covered by DAB
broadcasts.
Each
mains-powered tuner measures 21 x 17.5 cm and includes a digital
display showing song titles and programme details.
It
is the first time that DAB transmissions have been available on
portable sets, rather than as hi-fi separates or PC plug-ins, and
the Pure Evoke-1 has received positive reviews so far in the press.
Also
available in this week's Radio Times, published on Tuesday 6 August,
is a revolutionary touch-screen portable radio, controlled by fingertips
or with the stylus provided. This costs Β£49.99.
All
goods will be delivered within 28 days of orders being received.
Please see the full terms and conditions inside the magazine for
further details.
