16.08.02 Children
in Need Story Collection
A very
special collection of original fiction by some of the best children's
writers in Britain today will be released by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide on 16th
September 2002, in aid of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Children in Need Appeal.
All
stories are previously unpublished and have been generously contributed,
free of charge, to help the charity in its work to improve the lives
and prospects of children and young people living in the UK who
have experienced hardships, difficulties or disadvantages of some
kind.
Like
the hugely popular Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need telethon, now in its 23rd
year, the book contains unique gems that promise to appeal to all
our emotions. The writers thrill, challenge and entertain as they
provoke thought, tears and laughter. The settings, past, present
or future, range from the familiar, sometimes a little too close
to home, to the fantastic. There are thieves to catch, pets to cherish
and keep us amused, mysteries and problems to solve, dreams to believe
in and hours of entertainment for readers opening this treasure-trove
of stories.
Contributing
authors are Jacqueline Wilson, Allan Ahlberg, Jean Ure, Berlie Doherty,
Stephen Law, David Almond, Philippa Pearce, Anthony Horowitz, Martin
Waddell, Malorie Blackman, Robert Swindells and Jeremy Strong.
