Worldwide to Integrate bVL Websites into Worldwide Core Business
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
Worldwide today announced the integration into its core business
of certain websites formerly owned by beeb Ventures Ltd (bVL). bVL
will in due course cease to exist.
From
today, websites including those relating to Radio Times and Top
Gear will be run by Worldwide's magazines business. A number of
other magazine-related websites, for example Top of the Pops, will
no longer be transactional and will operate as marketing sites for
the relevant magazine.
As
a result of these changes, around 38 bVL staff will be affected
and helped to find employment either within Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
or externally.
beeb.net,
which recently received the accolade 'ISP of the month' from Internet
Magazine, will continue to provide easy access to the internet for
its customers and will now operate within Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide's global
internet business.
These
changes are designed to maximise the value of the branded websites
and beeb.net and further reduce costs.
bVL
was set up by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide and US-based technology investor, THLee
Putnam Ventures, in August 2000. In an agreement between the two
parties, THLee has the ability to recoup its investment in a number
of ways including the retention of an on-going financial interest
in the rights previously held by bVL.
