Ace Lightning strikes at MipTV

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide, the main commercial arm of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, presents Ace Lightning at MipTV (15th- 19th April 2002), a groundbreaking pre-teen action-comedy and visual treat that combines live-action with spectacular CGI animation.

Ace Lightning (26 x 24 mins) follows the adventures of 13 year-old Mark Hollander and his super-hero friend, Ace Lightning, as they battle to defeat evil Lord Fear and his Evil Five. Produced by Rick Siggelkow (Noddy in Toyland and Shiny Time Station) Ace Lightning is an AAC KIDS co-production with Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide.

Also for the childrenΒ’s line-up comes the all-new Andy Pandy (52 x 5 mins). After an absence of 28 years, Andy Pandy is back, applying cutting-edge animation techniques to a host of new adventures. As in the original, Andy Pandy is joined by old friends Looby Loo and Teddy, plus new characters Β– Bilbo, Tiffo the Dog, Orbie the ball and Missy Hissy, the timid snake. Produced by Jean Flynn, Andy Pandy is a Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide/Ben Productions production, produced by Cosgrove Hall Films.

Heading Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ WorldwideΒ’s drama line-up are two new 100-minute TV movies Β– Man and Boy, an adaptation of Tony ParsonsΒ’ highly acclaimed best selling novel, starring Ioan Gruffudd (The Hornblower, Great Expectations) and Natasha Little (This Life, Vanity Fair). Hound of the Baskervilles is an innovative Β“chiller-thrillerΒ” adaptation of the most famous Sherlock Holmes adventure. Portrayed as much younger characters, in keeping with Conan DoyleΒ’s original conception, Holmes and his companion Dr Watson unravel the mystery of the legendary hellhound of Dartmoor.

The new Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Entertainment line-up includes 15 Storeys High (6 x 30 mins), a subtle, and very funny series that goes behind the doors of a block of flats to reveal the residents Β– and their myriad idiosyncrasies.

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Natural History includes The Life of Mammals (10 x 50 mins) in which Sir David Attenborough introduces viewers to the most diverse animals ever to live on the planet, revealing 4,000 species that have outlived the dinosaurs and conquered the furthest places on earth. Also, from the same creative team behind Supernatural comes Weird Nature (6 x 30 mins). Produced by John Downer, the series celebrates animalsΒ’ inventiveness and ingenuity in a completely original presentation.

Heading the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ format line-up is The Enemy Within. A team of five must find the enemy amongst them in this game of strategy Β– if they are right, they keep the winnings, if not, their enemy keeps the prize. The Enemy Within is produced for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ by Zenith North.

From Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Music comes The QueenΒ’s Concerts. As part of celebrations for HM Queen Elizabeth IIΒ’s Golden Jubilee, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ will stage two major music events Β– Prom at the Palace (1 x 120 mins), a classical concert featuring performances from Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa among others, and Party at the Palace (1 x 160 mins), a pop concert. Major artists including Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Tom Jones, Sir Paul McCartney and Phil Collins will top the bill.
