Lightning strikes at MipTV
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
Worldwide, the main commercial arm of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, presents Ace Lightning
at MipTV (15th- 19th April 2002), a groundbreaking pre-teen action-comedy
and visual treat that combines live-action with spectacular CGI
animation.
Ace
Lightning (26 x 24 mins) follows the adventures of 13 year-old
Mark Hollander and his super-hero friend, Ace Lightning, as they
battle to defeat evil Lord Fear and his Evil Five. Produced by Rick
Siggelkow (Noddy in Toyland and Shiny Time Station) Ace Lightning
is an AAC KIDS co-production with Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide.
Also
for the childrenΒ’s line-up comes the all-new Andy Pandy
(52 x 5 mins). After an absence of 28 years, Andy Pandy is back,
applying cutting-edge animation techniques to a host of new adventures.
As in the original, Andy Pandy is joined by old friends Looby Loo
and Teddy, plus new characters Β– Bilbo, Tiffo the Dog, Orbie
the ball and Missy Hissy, the timid snake. Produced by Jean Flynn,
Andy Pandy is a Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide/Ben Productions production,
produced by Cosgrove Hall Films.

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ WorldwideΒ’s drama line-up are two new 100-minute TV movies
Β– Man and Boy, an adaptation of Tony ParsonsΒ’ highly
acclaimed best selling novel, starring Ioan Gruffudd (The Hornblower,
Great Expectations) and Natasha Little (This Life, Vanity Fair).
Hound of the Baskervilles is an innovative Β“chiller-thrillerΒ”
adaptation of the most famous Sherlock Holmes adventure. Portrayed
as much younger characters, in keeping with Conan DoyleΒ’s original
conception, Holmes and his companion Dr Watson unravel the mystery
of the legendary hellhound of Dartmoor.
The
new Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Entertainment line-up includes 15 Storeys High (6
x 30 mins), a subtle, and very funny series that goes behind the
doors of a block of flats to reveal the residents Β– and their
myriad idiosyncrasies.

Natural History includes The Life of Mammals (10 x 50 mins)
in which Sir David Attenborough introduces viewers to the most diverse
animals ever to live on the planet, revealing 4,000 species that
have outlived the dinosaurs and conquered the furthest places on
earth. Also, from the same creative team behind Supernatural comes
Weird Nature (6 x 30 mins). Produced by John Downer, the series
celebrates animalsΒ’ inventiveness and ingenuity in a completely
original presentation.
Heading
the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ format line-up is The Enemy Within. A team of five
must find the enemy amongst them in this game of strategy Β–
if they are right, they keep the winnings, if not, their enemy keeps
the prize. The Enemy Within is produced for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ by Zenith North.
From
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Music comes The QueenΒ’s Concerts. As part of celebrations
for HM Queen Elizabeth IIΒ’s Golden Jubilee, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ will stage
two major music events Β– Prom at the Palace (1 x 120 mins),
a classical concert featuring performances from Russian cellist
Mstislav Rostropovich and soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa among others,
and Party at the Palace (1 x 160 mins), a pop concert. Major artists
including Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Tom Jones,
Sir Paul McCartney and Phil Collins will top the bill.
