Christmas
sales success for Radio Times
The
Christmas Radio Times 2001 sold 2,630,000 million copies - or more
than 200 copies per minute in pre-Christmas trading hours.
Once
again, the double issue was the biggest-selling magazine of the
year in the UK, and Radio Times retained the highest volume share
of the paid-for listings market at 30%.
The
magazine generated a Retail Sales Value of Β£4,338,000, or
40%. This is an increase from last year's total of 38.9%, and means
that Radio Times was worth more to retailers than TV Times and What's
On TV combined.
The
final sales total is more than double the regular weekly figure
for Radio Times, which has a current circulation of 1,200,796 (ABC,
January - June 2001).
The
Christmas issue was the biggest edition in Radio Times' 78-year
history at 246 pages.
Ashley
Munday, Publisher, Radio Times, says: "Yet again, the Christmas
Radio Times has been the magazine industry's highlight of the year.
These sales figures prove that Christmas really wouldn't be Christmas
without Radio Times."
