Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
Learning available for first time in The Netherlands
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
Learning, a specially packaged and scheduled Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ 'mini-channel' for
the international market, and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ English programmes will be made
available to viewers in the Netherlands via Albeda ETV.nl, a new educational
cable TV channel launched today.
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
Worldwide, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's main commercial arm, will supply Albeda ETV.nl
(an initiative of ROC Albeda College), with Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Learning and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
English programming such as Learning English with Ozmo and Computers
Don't Bite.
Albeda
ETV.nl is available on cable from January 25, initially in the Rotterdam
area. The channel will provide locally produced and acquired programmes
in Dutch, as well as Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ educational programmes in English. The
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ programming will go live on the channel from March.
At
a press conference today in Rotterdam, Wayne Dunsford, Director
of Channels, EMEIA, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Worldwide, notes the impact the partnership
will have for viewers in The Netherlands. "Our partnership
with Albeda ETV.nl will allow Dutch viewers to watch and use Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
educational programmes when they want. This is a positive development
for the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ in this important market where it already has a strong
presence through its channels business. The deal also reflects the
breadth, variety and quality of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's educational programming
content," says Dunsford.
Piet
Boekhoud, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Albeda College added:
"Through our educational television activities, along with
other media possibilities, and with the help of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, we can
offer new chances to target groups who do not feel addressed by,
or who cannot be reached by, the existing educational offering.
Our Albeda ETV.nl offer is available to everyone, whenever they
want it."
This
is the first time that Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Learning will be available in The Netherlands.
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Learning offers a range of enriching educational programmes,
including everything from Learning for Schools and the Open University
to Learning English and other languages, plus history, science and
business. A vital learning resource, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Learning can be watched
and taped, allowing viewers to study when they want.
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
English programmes provide viewers of all ages with an entertaining
and informative curriculum for learning the English language. At
beginner's level (5-9 years old), there's Learning English with
Ozmo, a magazine-style show, in which puppet presenters introduce
language and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ archive material. There's also Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Kids English
Zone (5-10 years), Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Teen English Zone (11-16 years) and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ English
Zone (adults), offering dedicated programming tailored to specific
language levels.
