ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ World News offers viewers unparalleled coverage from the World Economic Forum in Davos

ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ World News is sending a team of experts to The World Economic Forum to provide viewers with three days of extensive news and business reporting, plus a special The World Debate programme.

With the backdrop of the global economic crisis, this year’s World Economic Forum is set to be the most critical held to date. ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ World News will broadcast live news updates and in-depth interviews from Davos from 28 January to 1 February 09.

The on-air team consists of Nik Gowing and Tanya Beckett, two highly-experienced World News Today presenters and veterans of many Davos events. Also on the ground are the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ’s Business Editor, Robert Peston, and the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ’s Economic Editor, Stephanie Flanders, who will provide analysis of the events taking place.

ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ World News has lined-up a list of high-profile guests to be interviewed on the channel including Kenneth Rogoff, Harvard University and former International Monetary Fund Chief Economist; Stephen Roach, Chairman Asia, Morgan Stanley; Angel Gurria, Secretary General, Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development; and Trevor Manuel, Finance Minister, South Africa. They will reveal their insight into the impact the global financial crisis is having on economies around the world, and how the economic situation can be resolved.

Every day, in addition to live news reports, Tanya Beckett will present World News Business Report each hour from 05.30 to 08.30 GMT, and Nik Gowing will present on the programme at 17.30 and 18.30 GMT.

In addition to the news coverage, ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ World News’ premier discussion forum, The World Debate, will discuss the topic β€œLearning the lessons from the financial crisis; time for a new rule book?” Hosted by Nik Gowing, the panellists include Robert B. Zoellick, President, The World Bank Group, Washington DC; Kevin Rudd, Australian Prime Minister; Laura Tyson, Professor of Global Management Haas Business and Public Policy Group Berkeley, and Economic Advisor to President Obama; and Nouriel Roubini, Professor of Economics and International Business, Stern School of Business, New York University. The World Debate broadcasts from 31 January at 07.10 GMT.

Meanwhile, bbc.com/news will feature the latest news, video highlights, clips of the key speakers, a live events page including Twitter updates, picture of the day, a Have Your Say online debate, a Davos basics section for new joiners and blogs from the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ team reporting from the heart of the event.
