Race For Life

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Oxford presenter Jo Thoenes joins Amy Beatty who will be eight months pregnant when she does Race for Life.

Race for Life is Cancer Research UK’s flagship event that has grown to become the UK’s largest women-only fundraising event.

Women walk, jog or run the 5km course, but Jo and Amy will waddle their way round on Saturday June 8th at the University Parks in Oxford.

To date, millions of women have raised over Β£200 million for Cancer Research UK's life-saving work from their Race for Life events.

Jo and Amy need your support so they can help the charity achieve their target of Β£50 million to support the work of scientists, doctors and nurses and help find new ways of preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.

Jo Thoenes decided to be Amy's Race for Life partner after seeing an appeal in the Oxford Mail:Μύ

"I don't think there is anyone these days that is untouched by cancer whether it is through family or friends.Μύ I am lucky enough to have my health and so decided to put it to good use and raise money for those people who haven't been as lucky.Μύ Doing it with Amy just adds a bit more excitement! "

Amy is also looking forward to the challenge:

"My Aunty Margaret beat breast cancer, and I was hoping that by doing Race for Life while pregnant IΜύcould raise more awareness and more money.Μύ I'm looking forward to doing it with Jo... she's a bit crazy and it will be fun!"

If you are doing Race for Life and fancy joining Jo and Amy on the day, "Particularly if you are a midwife!" says Jo, then e-mail jointheafternoon@bbc.co.uk.
