Safety Net

How can you keep your children safe from stranger danger on the internet or how do do you put a filter on your computer to stop the little darlings from riddling it with viruses? CSV can help you understand all the jargon when it comes to technology.

Did you know?

A third of children, many as young as 11 years old, use blogs and social networking sites at least two or three times a week yet two-thirds of parents don’t even know what a blog is, according to a report by NCH and Tesco Telecoms.

It's understandable that every parent wants to keep ahead of what their children are doing, but how do you do this when it comes to technology and your understanding is minimal?

Children are very clued up on technology but are they worldly enough to know how to protect them selves?

NCH children's charity and Tesco telecoms have worked together to help educate parents on the dangers of technology, while also remembering the many benefits that technology brings with it. They are offering a free booklet to all parents with all you need to know.

Andy Dewhurst, Chief Executive Officer of Tesco Telecoms, commented:

Μύβ€œOur free book is aimed at helping kids to encourage their parents to get to grips with technology.

A computer user

β€œYoung people are often in the driving seat when it comes to new technology. Mobile phones and the internet use can be of huge benefit for families. For example, parents can use texting to stay in regular touch with their children.

β€œHowever, all new technologies bring some risks and we believe that if parents talk to their kids and stay in touch with technology then they can be much more aware of how young people are using their mobiles and computers and can understand and help prevent those potential risks.”
