Elly and Pudsey Bear at Hob Moor fun club

More fun for all

Pudsey Bear and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio York's Elly Fiorentini have been busy handing out cash! Not out of their own pockets, but grants from Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children In Need. If you've ever wondered where your generous donations go then read on...

Hob Moor Fun Club operates from Hob Moor Children’s Centre in York and they haveΜύ received a grant of Β£15,088 from Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children In Need.

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio York's Elly Fiorentini went along with Pudsey Bear to present them with their cheque and meet the staff and children. Pudsey was really happy to meet all the children and he was pleased to hand over the cheque to such a good cause.

Manager Kerry Revill tells us about the club and what they will using the grant for:

"We have two groups; one for children under eight and another for over eights. All the children have access to secure outdoor play areas and we offer an exciting programme of play activities for the children after school and during the holidays.

"The club was set up as a registered charity in 2001 by a group of volunteer parents who set up a management committee to provide good quality childcare provision for working parents.

"The club is registered by Ofsted to ensure it is a safe and suitable childcare facility and we undergo the appropriate checks.Μύ At the last inspection the club was graded as good by Ofsted in all areas and we work hard to keep up the high standard that is expected.

"The grant we received from Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children in Need will enable us to employ additional playworkers to support children with special needs so they can attend the club alongside the mainstream children.ΜύIt is hoped this funding will also enable the club to be accessible to all members of the community."

Who better to tell us about the club than the children who use it. Listen to what Clare, Connor and Michael have to say...

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Children In Need grants are available to any organisation that aims to significantly improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people around the UK. But you have to apply! Over Β£30 million was raised in 2007 and Children In Need would like to help out as many groups as possible.
