Calendar Girls strip again

The ladies of Rylstone WI have been up to their old tricks and produced a revealing follow up to their hugely successful calendar. We caught up with Tricia Stewart (played by Helen Mirren in the Calendar Girls film) to find out what we to expect.

So tell us just what this Calendar features.

"We've got the six original photos on, and then we've done six new ones with all six of us featured."

Does posing in the nude get any easier?

The original Calendar Girls

"It's not like standing on a stage with no clothes on. Because it's very discrete, and in somebody's house with your friends, it's never frightened me; I'm more frightened of driving on the M6.

"We just needed to be sure that it would work again really. Perhaps because we've been around a long time people could be sick of us, think 'oh my goodness, it's them again'.

"This one really does look fantastic. It's sepia again and it's the original printer who's done it so our original photos look just as good as the first time. The design is the same but in the inside cover there's a resume of what we've done since April 12th 1999.

"There's us at the Premiere in Los Angeles and London, with Charles and Camilla. Prince Charles was delighted to be involved in the calendar and that we could use that photograph."

You've now raised over Β£1,000,000 so how long can this go on for?

"We've raised about Β£1.2m now. We don't go out and look for anything. We did this to tie in with the Sunday Times home exhibition because their sponsored charity is Leukaemia Research Fund. They've got a stand there and we just thought that we had to have something to sell."

What do you say to those people who say this isn't quite suitable for the WI?

"Well... you can't give people a sense of humour who haven't got one can you. There's no point trying to convince anybody. You either like it or you don't. "

Of course Camilla is the latest high profile signing to the WI, do you think it's your habit of taking your clothes off and posing for photographers that got her interested?

"I think it's a shame she didn't join sooner, she might have been on it. Her joining is attributed to us amazingly enough. Every report said that after meeting the Calendar Girls at a reception at Clarence House, Camilla was pursuaded to join the WI."

So there was no hint that the Duchess of Cornwall might join you?

"I did ask that if we did another, and we were a month short, would she be up for it. She said that would cause a stir, and she'd need an awfully big prop. Of course she's about eight stone really. I said it doesn't have to be a WI craft, you could be behind your horse. She just chuckled."
