Festival review...
Sonar, Barcelona - Day Three
Sonar By Night is set five miles west of Barcelona in a gargantuan industrial warehouse complex that needs to be seen to be believed. The word Sonar translates as dream and when you first walk in to the Sonar Club that's exactly what it feels like. 20'000 people (in one room) with Jeff Mills rocking out the minimal techno and Detroit classics, another 10'000 in the room beside it raving out to classic rave anthems like Energy Flash and Everybody In the Place courtesy of Altern 8, while in the main outdoor area we have an Innversions showcase with Dixon, Chateaux Flight Live and Ame wigging out some serious deep house and detroit flavoured beats. Miss Kittin has the honour of bringing the festival to a close in Sonar Park and as the sun comes up on Barcelona she's the perfect hostess who delivers an incredible set singing her way through minimal anthem Γ―ΒΏΒ½Isolee' accapella. Our only complaint is that it was over too quickly, three-days felt like three-hours and before you know you're on a plane back to Belfast. Sonar 2008 here we come.
