This version of the play is set in the days of the British Raj; the colonels' daughters have been sent to a hill-station to escape the heat of summer. Accompanied by two long-suffering Army men, the girls plan their own entertainment - Servant of Two Masters, transforming a courtyard into their version of Venice.

Traffaldino in a bit of a bind!

The production isΜύperformed by Year 2 BA Drama students of the University of Northampton, under the direction of a team of professional theatre-makers. Guest artist David Cottis is artistic director of London’s Instant Classics Theatre, which specialises in innovative re-visioning of well-known classics.

Cottis's recent production of Richard III was deemed 'a sparkling production' (The Stage). Valerie Kaneko Lucas, designer for Hackney Empire's De Botty Business, will be working with student designers to realise the world of the play.
