Cinderella and the Glass Slipper

By Maisie Randall, 6, from Hartwell.

Once upon a time there lived a pretty little girl when she was young her mum sadly died. Her dad remarried but Cinderella's mother was selfish and cruel. Cinderella had two ugly sisters who were called Dippy and Dolly. They were very ugly and made Cinderella do all the work. "Sweep the chimney pots," said Dippy and Dolly.

One day the King sent an invitation to Cinderella's house. Dippy picked it up and read the letter. It said dear the parents the King is holding a ball for the Prince's twenty first birthday. "Cinderella," called Dippy and Dolly, "you must help us to get ready for the ball." "I want to go too." "No, you can not go to the ball, you have nothing to wear," said Dippy and Dolly.

They started to tease Cinderella , "too bad you can not go to the ball," "yes," laughed the other one. "Go on Cinderella help us to get ready." "OK," said Cinderella. When they were ready they went to the ball. When they were gone Cinderella sat down and cried.

When she looked up there was a kind old woman standing before her. In her hand was a wand that shone. "Dry your tears my dear," she said, "and you shall go to the ball." "But I have nothing to wear and how will I get there?"

The Fairy Godmother smiled, she asked Cinderella to fetch her the biggest pumpkin in the garden, with a flick of her magic wand she turned it into a golden carriage. The mice in the kitchen mouse trap into fine horses, a fat rat into a handsome coachman.

She waved her wand once more and Cinderella was dressed in a magnificent dress. "Now off you go, oooh I forgot something, my magic will end at midnight so you must be back by then," she said. "Now off you go and remember." Cinderella went.

Cinderella went, she was just in time, the Prince caught her eye, he said, "would you do me the honour of a dance?" "Why certainly sir," Cinderella said. So Cinderella and the Prince danced but when the clock struck midnight, "I must go," said Cinderella. She rushed out of the palace, the Prince ran after her but there on the palace steps was one tiny glass slipper. He picked it up and ran back inside.

The next day the Prince knocked on the door where Cinderella lived. The ugly step sisters put on the shoe but it did not fit. Cinderella stepped forward and said, "may I try on the glass shoe?" Cinderella slipped her foot into the glass shoe and then they got married and lived happily ever after.
