Â鶹ԼÅÄ

Born in Surrey, Alan and his family moved away from the area when he was very young, settling in Sutton Coldfield. Alan spent his formative years in the area and attended Bishop Vesey Grammar School.

Alan’s first job was shovelling sand on a Youth Opportunity Placement Scheme, he actually wanted to train as an audio visual engineer; he never could work out what shovelling sand had to do with this! Alan then progressed into the world of sales – where he sold anything and everything – some of the items weren't even for sale…

Alan then became a very bad musician, playing keyboards for a variety of bands, before falling into the world of radio presenting by accident.

His first job in radio was in 1990, working for Â鶹ԼÅÄ CWR (now Â鶹ԼÅÄ Coventry & Warwickshire) presenting a specialist show called ‘Al’s Unsigned Heroes’, a very successful format that is common today, but at the time was a relatively new concept.

Action Alan

Alan joined Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio Northampton four years ago as the station’s CSV Social Action Producer, but later decided to concentrate on the presenting side of radio. He began presenting the ‘Early Riser Show’ about two years ago and has not looked back since.

The show is very interactive, with Alan reacting to the many phone calls and pages of texts he receives. Alan describes the experience as an internet chat-room with him at the helm acting as moderator for each discussion thread. Conversation topics have included anything from the best colour of jelly beans through to whether the show’s resident nudist should visit Trevor – ‘The Love Guru’ - for belly-dancing lessons!

Outside of work, Alan enjoys riding motorbikes and playing keyboards in bands…not to mention talking!
